To test Recheck safely, turn on the customer tag restriction. Only customers with the tag you choose will see Recheck’s order editing. Every other customer won’t, so your live store keeps running as normal while you test. Here’s how you can do it:

Open Order editing restrictions under Settings.

Turn on Customer tag-based restriction and add the customer tag you want to allow editing for.

In the Customer tags section, turn on Customer tag-based restriction. Add a tag such as recheck-test to the allowed customer tags, not the restricted ones.This only enables editing for customers with that tag. Any customer without it won’t see the order editing options Recheck adds.

Open the customer profile you'll test with and add the same tag.

In your Shopify admin, go to Customers, open the customer you’ll use for testing, and add the tag if it isn’t there already.

Place an order as that customer and check both order pages.

Check out with the tagged customer’s email so the order is linked to that customer. A customer without the tag can’t edit their order while the restriction is on.Then check both pages where customers edit their orders:
  • Thank you page: shown right after checkout.
  • Order status page: the page customers reach later from their order confirmation email or their account.
If Recheck doesn’t show on either page, check that its blocks are added to both pages. See Add Recheck’s extensions.
When you’re done testing, remove the test tag, or turn off Customer tag-based restriction if you turned it on only for the test. While it’s on, only customers with the allowed tag can edit their orders. One exception: if a rule has Ignore global customer tag restrictions turned on, orders that rule matches can still be edited. Turn that off while you test.
